You are being encouraged to get out and play on this first day of summer.
Today is the “Longest Day of Play” — where Grey Bruce communities have organized different events to get residents to become more physically active.
Stats show only about 50 per cent of Grey Bruce residents are active on a regular basis — and 22 per cent are considered overweight or obese.
For example in Owen Sound — the Mayor is hosting a Poker Walk at City Hall starting at Noon today.
You can also take part in sports conditioning at the former Strathcona School at 3:30 PM.
There’s also free swimming at the Family Y and Harrison Park from 3 PM to 8 PM.
The idea is a partnership between the Grey Bruce Health Unit and the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
