The wait is finally over; the Walkerton Swimming Pool is open to the public again.
The pool has just undergone 400 thousand dollars in renovations and upgrades.
The project included retiling the swimming pool, renovating the changing rooms, refurbishing the pool concrete and addressing some of the mechanical deficiencies to the pool equipment.
A new larger picnic area has also been constructed with roof top solar panels to supply hot water to both the pool and the change rooms.
Director of Recreation Dan Wilken believes the public will be pleased with the new look.
Unfortunately the project fell about three weeks behind schedule, even so Wilken says it has only impacted one week of swimming lessons.
With the pool project now complete, Wilken hopes everyone will come out for a dip.
He says there is nothing like a nice cool swim on a hot summer day.
The 400 thousand dollar project was a shared venture between the federal, provincial and municipal governments.
The project received RInc fynding, which came under the governments stimulus funding package.
