Georgian Bluffs has hit the reset button on its search for a new CAO.
The township has reposted an advertisement for the position after deciding that the candidates who had already applied just didn’t fit the bill.
The application deadline is June 24th and township clerk Bruce Hoffman — who is now also the acting CAO — told council on Wednesday night that as of a few days ago three applications had been received. One was from a previous applicant and two were new to the process.
Mayor Alan Barfoot says the selection committee in charge of making a recommendation to council felt that none of the people who applied in the first round seemed to fit a vision of the township going forward.
It’s been more than two months since Bill White resigned as CAO in order to take a similar job with the Town of Minto.
Barfoot says Georgian Bluffs certainly didn’t want to go without a full-time administrator for so long, but he notes that Hoffman and the department heads are keeping things operating in an orderly fashion.
The hope is that by reposting the job, the municipality will elicit interest that perhaps wasn’t there the first time around.
