A glimmer of a hope for a Priceville family who face having their Hydro cut-off, if they don’t pay their electricity bill.
United Way Executive Director Francesca Dobbyn says Hydro One has just agreed to extend the payment deadline to the end of the month.
Heather Pletch and Sean Chizem were scheduled to have their power turned off this Friday june 17th if they didn’t pay an accumulated hydro bill of 43 hundred and 55 dollars.
They have not been using equal billing and instead have been facing huge bills during the winter months because they heat with electricity.
Their last Hydro bill was 17 hundred dollars for two months — so they now have to pay up by June 30th or they will be cut off.
Dobbyn says at least Hydro One agreed to one more extension — and hopefully they can raise some money in Grey Bruce to help the family.
Over the winter months, the United Way has given out nearly 250 thousand dollars to help people struggling with their utility bills.
That figure is way up, from the total of 70 thousand dollars in 2010.
Dobbyn says if you can help the Priceville family out, you can donate at any Meridan Credit Union, or TD Canada Trust office in the area.
Donations can also be made over the phone to the United way using Visa or Mastercard.
