Owen Sound Fire responded to a call at Miller’s Recycling in the Industrial park.
The Fire Department was called Tuesday to extinguish a fire that was burning on a trailer of compacted garbage.
Fire Captain Ken Lawrence confirmed the response, saying material on one of the of the trailers of garbage bound for Michigan caused the blaze.
Lawrence relates the call was a standard response for the Owen Sound Fire Department and noted the blaze was extinguished quickly with assistance from a loader at the Miller’s facility
There was minimal damage to the trailer involved and the dollar value of the incident was almost non-existent.
Lawrence states Owen Sound Fire checked all of the other trailers on site with garbage bound for Michigan and found nothing to suggest a similar fire could occur.
