A new city Manager has been selected for Owen Sound.
Council has appointed Ruth Coursey to take over on July 25th, 2011.
Coursey is the former Chief Administrative Officer of the Town of Lakeshore and the selection was unanimous.
Mayor Deb Haswell says it is an important leadership role within the municipality and they are pleased to have attracted broad interest from candidates across the province.
Coursey has more than 25 years experience in municipal government.
As a Director of Planning for the Town of East Gwillimbury and the City of Orillia, Coursey worked closely with the development industry, business owners and local residents.
She most recently was the Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Lakeshore in Essex County, a community of 35 thousand people.
The move by city council this afternoon, follows a surprise retirement announcement last week of Glen Henry.
He has been acting city Manager and Director of Corporate Services — and Henry has been with Owen Sound for nearly 30 years.
