Saugeen Shores residents have answered the call yet again.
Bruce Telecom, along with 98 the Beach, recently launched a five thousand dollar fundraising drive that would benefit food banks in Port Elgin and Kincardine.
Ray Majury of Bruce Telecom says the idea was to have the community raise 25 hundred dollars and his company would kick in the same amount.
Majury says the goal was reached and as a result $1,250 was given to each food bank.
In addition Bruce Telecom staff brought in food to be delivered to the facilities.
The community service worker for the Salvation Army Food Bank in Port Elgin, Ed Giles says it’s great the way the community stands behind the organization.
Giles says the money will certainly be put to good use.
He says as many food drives as there are for food banks, the facilities do run into bare shelves at times and the cash raised is then used to buy more food for those that need it.
