It cost just over 150 thousand dollars to cover the salaries and expenses of Hanover’s seven member Council.
Of the 150 thousand dollars, 93 thousand was spent on councillor salaries and 16 thousand dollars on travel and convention.
Mayor Kathi Maskell topped the list at 42 thousand dollars, followed by the late Deputy Mayor Gerry Rogers at 31 thousand.
Hanover Councillors averaged about 15 and a half thousand dollars.
Mayor Kathi Maskell calls it a good value for the taxpayers dollar.
She says council members work long hours serving the community, which includes late night meetings and hours of preparation work.
Maskell adds the roles and responsibilities of councillors continues to expand.
Grey County chipped in another 38 thousand dollars to cover Hanover’s two County Councillor positions.
The remaining 3 thousand dollars came from the Police Board as well as the Saugeen Conservation Authority to cover their board member fees.
