You’re invited to sip champagne and christen the biggest lighthouse on the smallest lake.
The Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton is celebrating the opening of its Stokes Bay Lighthouse exhibit.
Curator Barbara Ribey says the lighthouse served as a range light for over 108 years and now sits in the Museum’s backyard overlooking Fairy Lake.
The celebration and social happens on the museums patio at 2 PM on Saturday.
The lighthouse itself was saved by Bruce County Tourism and airlifted by helicopter to the Museum in 2009.
Ribey says volunteers then restored the lighthouse using traditional paint and craftsmanship.
The lighthouse exhibit coincides with the official launch of their new exhibit development campaign.
Ribey says the goal of the 5-year campaign is to raise 500 thousand dollars.
