Highway 21 is now re-opened south of Port Elgin from County Eoad 40 south to Concession 10.
It had been closed for about 36 hours after the storm knocked 100 hydro poles down.
Meantime, Hydro One says it has 210 employees and two helicopters working to restore power across Ontario today.
Damaging thunderstorms knocked thousands of people off the electricity system.
At 6 PM Thursday – just over 87 thousand customers are without service in Ontario.
Hydro one says most should be back on later today, but some will not have power before late tomorrow.
In the immediate area, 700 customers served by the Walkerton sub-station are out.
Most will be back on tonight, but some will be tomorrow before returning to service.
