Owen Sound will have find someone else to run the city.
Acting City Manager and Director of Corporate Services, Glen Henry has announced he will retire after 33 years working in municipal government at the end of August.
Henry tells Bayshore Broadcasting News he plans to remain in the Scenic City after retirement.
He says he has no definite plans following his retirement, but feels he has quite a few productive years left and he looks forward to considering his options.
Glen Henry began working for Owen Sound in 1982 as the Deputy Clerk.
He rose in the ranks over the years, and has worked for seven different Mayors — starting with Bob Rutherford and ending with Deb Haswell.
In a release from city hall, Mayor Deb Haswell says Henry’s service of nearly 3 decades has been a tremendous benefit to the city.
As one of the most senior staff members, Haswell says Henry has an incredible knowledge of many key issues the city of Owen Sound has faced during his tenure.
Glen Henry isn’t sure if he will be replaced by one person or two.
Owen Sound council is currently seeking a City Manager, and it remains to be seen he says if that person will also be the Director of Corporate Services.
