Arran Elderslie Mayor Paul Eagleson says no firm date has been set to sit down with Saugeen Shores police to talk police service in the community.
Eagleson says he has received a letter from the Chair of the Police Services Board, Saugeen Shores Deputy Mayor Luke Charbonneau, suggesting a meeting to discuss issues.
Eagleson says they’re shopping around for service because the current OPP service provided by South Bruce OPP is getting pricey.
He says the budget is approaching one million dollars and the municipality has problems budgeting for it because they never know the cost until the end of the year.
Eagleson did point out that they are not dissatisfied with the OPP service but cost has them looking around.
There’s not much shopping to do now.
Arran Elderslie asked West Grey to consider an extension of police service but have bowed out.
That leaves the Saugeen Shores possibility.
