Don’t try to cash those HST rebate cheques that arrived in the mail this week — at least not yet.
About three million of the cheques are post-dated until June 10th.
That is the day they would have originally been sent out if there wasn’t a postal strike.
The cheques are the third instalment in payments from the Liberal government to moderate and low-income families to offset the impact of the 13 per cent harmonized sales tax.
The Liberal government says the cheques are not post-dated, but simply dated for when they were scheduled for normal delivery.
But people who have tried to cash them have discovered they can’t get their money until next Friday.
