There’s a water meter open house for residents in Wiarton and Amabel-Sauble today.
Home owners will get the scoop on South Bruce Peninsula plan’s to install the water meters and learn how to save some money.
The open houses take place on Saturday from 9 AM to Noon and again from 1 PM to 4 PM at the Wiarton Community Centre.
Public Works Manager Phil Dwyer says it’s not a formal meeting as much as it’s a “come and go.”
Dwyer says the new water meters will allow the municipality to decipher the cost and keep inventory.
Dwyer says they will also be able to calculate revenue the system brings in.
For residents wanting to save a few bucks — Dwyer they will explain how home owners can track water usage and detect leaks in their own systems.
There are just over one thousand users of the Wiarton water system and about 340 on the Amabel/Sauble system.
Installation on the water meters starts this year.
