The Hanover and District Hospital is now offering epidurals.
Vice President of Patient Care Services Esther Millar says this will go a long way in helping control the pain and discomfort women experience during labour.
Doctor Randy Montag is one of the two physicians that will be providing the epidurals — the other physician is Doctor Bruce Edington.
Doctor Montag says the epidurals will be mainly for first time mothers or those who have had trouble in previous labours and deliveries.
Last year 85 babies were born in the Hanover and District Hospital.
But most mothers to be would go to the Owen Sound hospital because it offered epidurals.
Now officials expect to see more pregnant women deliver at the Hanover Hospital now that it’s offering epidurals.
