Building stats for the city of Owen Sound show a solid start to the year for construction.
In April, there were 24 building permits issued worth 2.13 million dollars.
That compares with 45 permits a year ago, worth 1.7 million.
In the year to date totals, Development Co-ordinator Sandy Parks says the number of permits taken out is down slightly, but total value is up about 8 percent to 4.6 million dollars.
Parks says major projects started in April in the Scenic City include an addition to St. Basil’s school worth about 1.3 million dollars, and a new dental clinic on 9th Avenue East.
Although the value of construction so far this year exceeds the level in 2010, that won’t continue because the Regional rec centre skewed the numbers in the second half of last year.
