The Bluewater District School library system is not going the same route as what happened in the Windsor area.
The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board has laid off most of its library technicians and is closing school libraries.
Superintendent of Elementary Education at Bluewater Marnie Coke says the same is not happening here.
Coke says the libraries are fairly well used with students going in to select books for their independent reading.
In addition she says many schools have labs for technology and teachers are working with their classes on various projects and the libraries provide different research material to access.
Coke says school libraries are still the hub in any school and are doing fairly well.
However, she leaves it open that perhaps down the road there may be some discussion on what is happening in our libraries but for now, the traditional school library will remain.
