The town of Saugeen Shores has some surplus land for sale and it could result in an expansion of the Saugeen Memorial Hospital.
Mayor Mike Smith says the land in question is at 21 Grey Street North in Southampton, adjacent to the hospital on the east side of the street.
Smith says the Grey Bruce Health Services has been interested in buying the land on the understanding that it would be used to expand the hospital and/or its services.
He says down the road, should the land not be needed by the Unit then it would be sold back to the town.
Formerly there was a house on the lot that was used for locums at the hospital but the town now has a condo unit it uses.
The house was torn down leaving the vacant lot.
Grey Bruce Health Services has offered to buy the land for 37 thousand dollars and to honour the covenants.
Council has approved the sale.
