The owner of Around the Sound Food market, Anne Finlay-Stewart, is considering her options but she likely won’t be rebuilding the store on 6th street east in Owen Sound.
Finlay-Stewart says there is no money to open the business again following a fire earlier this month that destroyed some apartments upstairs and heavily damaged the store below.
One option she is looking into is the old CPR station in Owen Sound.
The city has received money to help in restoring the building, and Anne Finlay-Stewart says it would lend itself well to a local food showcase, perhaps an outdoor cafe in the good weather and garden beds.
Discussions have started with the mayor and others at city hall, but nothing has been finalized.
Finlay-Stewart says the need for local food is still there, and it simply a matter of determining what venue will be used to deliver it.
