Grey County OPP are warning drivers to be cautious in the Keady area, after a truck slammed into a cow on Grey Road 3.
It happened in Chatsworth township about 3am on Saturday morning, and police believe several other cattle are still believed at large in that area.
A northbound Kenworth flatbed tow truck struck a cow walking on the roadway near Keady.
The cow died and the truck was damaged, but the driver was not injured.
Grey county OPP say the cow was one of a large number of Black Angus cattle — approximately 50 head — that originated at a farm on Bruce Road 40 just west of the Grey-Bruce Line.
There were two other cattle seen in the vicinity of the crash indicating a number had migrated a considerable distance north and east.
Cattle are difficult to see during hours of darkness, dusk or dawn, at any time and the Black Angus variety for obvious reasons are even more difficult to spot.
The owner, who is actively searching, has indicated it will take a long time, maybe weeks, to gather them all back up.
Motorists travelling in that area should be aware and use caution.
