There are new rules for boaters across the country.
Under the new regulations that started April 15th, you must have a pleasure craft operator card.
Transport Canada says the only course to administer this new test is Boat Smart Canada.
President Cameron Taylor says the test is a lot tougher and there are more questions that you have to answer.
Taylor says their goal is to increase safety on all waterways by setting a higher standard for people to obtain their pleasure craft operator card.
Taylor says those who already have their card will not be affected by the new standards, but you must have taken your test before April 15th.
Up to half of the six million boaters in Canada do not have a license and if you are stopped and don’t produce a license, you face a 250 dollar fine.
