A large throng in the downtown core of Owen Sound sent the Ontario Hockey League Champion Attack rolling off to the Mastercard Memorial Cup Wednesday afternoon.
After loading their gear for the Memorial Cup at Mississauga, the Attack bus stopped at the Farmer’s Market behind City Hall where a large crowd chanted and cheered and wished the Attack all the best at the 2011 Canadian Hockey League Championship.
The Attack, the Western Champion Kootenay Ice, the Quebec Major Champion St John Sea Dogs & the host Mississauga St Mike’s Majors begin competition for the Memorial Cup on Friday
Owen Sound will face Kootenay in their first round robin game Saturday night at the Hershey Centre.
The Attack will play Saint John on Monday and then meet St Mike’s Wednesday to wrap up the round robin portion of the tournament.
