Another phase of reconstruction of 9th street east in Owen Sound is now underway.
Prestige Telecom is replacing the damaged infrastructure under the street, which carries Bell Canada phone and Internet services.
A major telecommunications interruption happened last fall during work near the 9th street bridge.
Temporary repairs were done at the time, but this permanent repair is just underway.
Project Manager Jim Newman says all the repairs will be done by July 1st.
Work started last Sunday with a directional drill being used under the roadway.
Newman says the work crews are now doing open-trench work and building a six duct structure to carry new cables.
Phase one of the work will be done by June 1st, and splicing work will take until the end of June.
Newman says there should be no interruption in Bell Services during the work, and 9th street remains open during the repairs.
