Five professional “ribbers” will stop in Owen Sound late this summer for the first annual “Ribfest” in the Scenic City.
Promoter Ray Uotila says the teams will compete for various trophies including best ribs and sauce.
The new event is connected with the Ribfest in London, and will be the final stop of the season in Ontario for the “ribbers” who are involved.
Uotila says there are two teams from Ontario and one each from Florida, Texas and Alabama..
The promoter is hoping they can attract 10 to 15 thousand people over the three days the event is being held.
Admission is free and Uotila says it will be family friendly, with live childrens entertainment.
Ribfest in Owen Sound will be held at Kelso Beach in Owen Sound September 16 to the 18th.
It will be open from 11 AM to 10 PM from Friday and Saturday and from Noon until 5 PM on Sunday.
