The Walkerton Dyke is going to receive some much needed repairs this Spring.
The 21 thousand dollar project will be a shared venture between the Ministry of Natural Resources and the municipality of Brockton.
The Saugeen Conservation Authority will oversee the project — and Brockton Mayor David Inglis is pleased it will move ahead.
Inglis says it’s been years since the dyke has received any major maintenance work.
The Walkerton Dyke was constructed in the 1950’s — and it’s one of the Saugeen Conservation Authorities first projects.
Once these upgrades are complete, Inglis suspects the dyke will be able to go for several more years before requiring any additional work.
The project will get underway as soon as the Ministry funding comes through.
The Ministry’s share comes from the Water and Erosion Control Infrastructure funding.
