A 13 year old Saugeen Shores girl will lose her locks today for Cops for Cancer.
Kim Edwards says she’s been thinking about cutting off her hair and donating it to make a wig for about two years.
The St. Joseph’s elementary student says someone at her school had it and it made her think that we can grow our hair everyday, but cancer patients can not.
Edwards also watched her grandmother and aunt go through cancer treatments, and her aunt lost her hair and had to wear a wig.
She says she’s a little nervous about losing her hair, but she knows it’s all for a good cause.
From root to tip her hair is about 20 inches long now, and 10 inches will be shorn for the cause.
She’s also raising money at her school and at several businesses throughout the community.
Edwards says if she raises one thousand dollars, her dad will also shave his head.
She hopes by doing this she can raise awareness in her school, and encourage some of her peers to join the fight against cancer as well.
