That from defeated Green Party Candidate Eric Shelley.
The 23 year old college student is taking his defeat very well after finishing in fourth place in the riding of Huron Bruce in the federal election
Shelley says he’s not disappointed at all after getting over 1,400 votes and only 3% support in the riding.
Shelley says he never really expected to win — but what he did want to do is shed some light on some important issues.
And Shelley feels he accomplished that.
It was a hectic campaign for the Pre-Health Science Georgian College student who had to juggle school work, a weekend job and a federal election campaign.
Shelley takes it all in stride calling it a great experience — one that he will never forget.
Shelley adds that now that the election is over, he doesn’t plan to disappear into the wood work just yet.
Instead Shelley says he’ll be back as he hopes to return to politics and run as Huron Bruce’s Green candidate again.
In the meantime Shelley plans to head back to school at the Georgian College Barrie campus to pursue Computer Programming.
As for his 15 year old campaign manager Corrina Serda, now that the election is over she too can focus on her Grade 9 studies.

Conservative – Ben Lobb – 28,922 votes (54.7 %)
NDP – Grant Robertson – 13,417 votes (25.4%)
Liberal – Charlie Bagnato – 8,784 votes (16.6%)
Green Party – Eric Shelley – 1,455 votes (2.8%)
Independent – Dennis Valenta – 254 votes (0.5%)
Polls reporting: 232/232 Voter turnout: 52,832 of 77,743 registered electors (68.0%)
