While the City of Owen Sound has changed its tiered response plan for firefighters — there is a different proposal for other municipal departments.
There is a plan that mandates the fire department respond to all life and limb threatening medical emergencies.
But while it looks good on paper — Hanover Fire Chief Ken Roseborough says it is just not feasible for volunteer fire departments.
He says this is going to interfere too much with firefighter work schedules.
Roseborough worries the added workload will over burden firefighters and their employers.
Instead Roseborough believes the current response agreement works best.
As part of that deal — the Hanover fire department will respond to a medical emergency if an ambulance response time is greater than 15 minutes.
Hanover Council has also rejected the proposal.
