Economic stability, healthcare, education and renewable energy are just a few of the key issues for the six candidates in the Bruce – Grey Owen Sound riding.
It was a packed house for the latest all-candidates meeting at the Meaford and St. Vincent Community Centre on Tuesday night.
Taking part in the meeting were Liberal candidate Kevin Eccles, Conservative Bill Walker, Independent Shane Jolley, Libertarian Jay Miller, Paul Johnstone of the NDP and Green Party representative Don Marshall.
With the impending retirement of current Bruce-Grey Owen Sound Conservative MPP Bill Murdoch, many candidates were stating that it is time for change.
Green Party candidate Don Marshall is concerned with the loss of manufacturing jobs in the area, and says we need to stop the bleeding and keep those jobs here.
Paul Johnstone with the NDP is equally concerned about job loss, and also wants to look into bringing a satellite university campus to the area.
Johnstone says the programs could focus on agriculture and environmental studies and would allow students to study close to home.
Liberal Kevin Eccles says he wants to see a new hospital built in Markdale, and would like to see that through to completion.
Conservative Bill Walker says he wants to cut down on wasteful spending, and get back to fiscal responsibility.
The provincial election is set for October 6th.
