Owen Sound and Georgian Bluffs are getting a new McDonald’s restaurant.
Georgian Bluffs council will stage a public meeting soon in order to change the zoning on the site, just west of the city limits.
Owner Steve and Christine Sgro want to build a new fast food restaurant.
Plans are to erect the new building in front of the current one — closer to Highway 6 and 21.
It’ll have a full-sized children’s playground as well as a double drive-thru.
McDonald’s will remain open while construction is taking place on the new one.
Sgro hopes the new restaurant will be finished and open by fall.
Mayor Alan Barfoot says a meeting must be held because of the zoning change.
He says the zoning must be changed and brought under the township’s umbrella since the Niagara Escarpment Commission no longer has jurisdiction.
