A 17 year old boy from Chatsworth Township is facing theft charges after Grey County OPP uncovered several stolen mail boxes in the trunk of his car.
The mailboxes disappeared in Georgian Bluffs Township overnight Tuesday into Wednesday of this week — however the owners have yet to be identified.
The OPP investigation stemmed from a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Concession 5 at Side Road 3 in Georgian Bluffs Township around 8:30 AM on Wednesday.
Five mailboxes were found in the trunk and a subsequent investigation confirmed they were stolen from homes on a rural road just south of Shallow Lake sometime in the hours after midnight.
The male teen has been charged with five counts each of the Criminal Code offences of Theft under five thousand dollars and Possession of Stolen Goods.
He is scheduled to appear in the Youth Justice Court-Owen Sound on June 21st.
Anyone in the Shallow Lake area who lost a mailbox in the last few days should contact Grey County OPP.
