The Bluewater District School Board is laying the groundwork for a Human Resources Advisory Committee.
At Tuesday’s meeting in Chesley, the board unanimously approved a draft policy outlining the committee members and what they will be responsible for.
The Human Resources Advisory Committee will be headed up by three trustee’s appointed to represent the board’s interests.
Those three trustee’s are Jan Johnstone, Jim Dawson and Fran Morgan.
Johnstone says the committee will have two main responsibilities — To oversee board policy and to represent both union and non – union personnel during collective bargaining.
She says in 2012 — the collective bargaining agreement for all provincial school boards will end, and a new deal will have to be negotiated.
Other day to day responsibilities of the committee include providing advice on human resources issues such as staff turnover, organizational health and wellness and leadership development.
The Human Resources Advisory Committee are also working to elect or appoint a trustee member to chair the committee, and will report regularly to the Board.
