The first quarter of 2011 looks very similar to the same period in 2010 for construction in Owen Sound.
Figures issued by the building department show 78 permits issued so far this year, up from 68 a year ago.
The value of the construction is 2.5 million dollars which is the same as in 2010.
In March, 2 million dollars worth of work was started including reconstruction of an 11 unit apartment building on 11th Street A west.
Owen Sound Development Co-ordinator Sandy Parks says that apartment building had burned to the ground last year.
Site services worth 120 thousand dollars are being installed at the Georgian College residence townhouses.
And a new 195 thousand dollar exercise enclosure is being built at the Grey county jail in Owen Sound, which is now set to close later this year.
