As you’re heading out of Southampton in the north or heading into the community, you’ll notice a lot of pylons along the roadway and a lot of work being done.
Dave Burnside — the Director of Engineering Services for Saugeen Shores — says it’s two separate projects that are underway that stretch from South Rankin Street, near the Saugeen River through to the border of the Saugeen First Nation Reserve on Craig Street.
Burnside says from South Rankin to Division Streets, sidewalks, curbs and gutters are being put in with a layer of ashpalt on the road scheduled for later this month.
The other project extends from Division to Craig streets and is part of the Connecting Link program of the Ministry of Transportation Ontario.
Burnside says there is road and shoulder widening along with re-surfacing as part of the 1.08-million dollar project.
This particular project is scheduled to be done by the end of this year.
There may be traffic delays at times during construction of both projects.
