The Bluewater Accommodation Review Committee, looking at schools in the Chesley and Hanover areas is closer to a recommendation.
The ARC group started their meeting in Chesley with 12 different options — now there are four.
Student senator with the board and representing Chesley District High, Jessica MacKinnon was impressed with the night’s work.
She says a new option calling for a JK to Grade 12 new Hanover School, along with a JK to Grade 8 Hanover Heights school and making Chesley District Grades 7 to 12 is her favourite option right now.
That same option would see Kinghurst as a JK to Grade 6 and Dawnview would be closed.
Nevertheless the battle continues with Chesley versus Hanover when it comes to schools that should remain open or be built.
In the four options still on the table only one calls for the closure of the Chesley School while Hanover’s high school would remain open or re-built into a new school in all four options.
Some tough decisions have to be made in the next two weeks and Director of Education John Bryant knows the committee will come through.
The next and final meeting is May 9th when a recommendation will be struck to send to the Bluewater District School Board.
The board will make its decision in October.
The Kincardine/Port Elgin ARC group will go through their whittling down session this Monday April 18th at Huron Heights School.
