South Bruce Peninsula council has made public, a letter from Genivar recently, after satisfying themselves there was no indication of litigation against the municipality.
You may recall Genivar was doing work on the proposed sewer project in Sauble Beach.
Mayor John Close says the municipality cut the service contract after 1.2-million dollars worth of work had been done on the 30-million dollar sewer project.
Close says this latest letter from Genivar clarified the justification for their billings to date and their recommendations on the sewer system in Sauble Beach.
Residents appeared to be firmly opposed to such a project.
Meanwhile, Mayor Close says an ad hoc committee is being formed to look further into the issue.
He says the town is looking for volunteers to serve on the committee.
Mayor Close says they need to find out if they really need the sewers in Sauble Beach saying a question that’s never been answered is on the source of pollution that may be caused by humans in our activities.
He says the question needs to be answered to help them conclude if sewers are really needed.
