This week is being dedicated to victims of crime.
Anne Elliott, the Managing Director of Victim Services Grey-Bruce, says the national campaign is funded by Justice Canada.
She says this year’s theme centres around “Many Voices, Many Paths.”
Elliott says this recognizes that victims can belong to any race, gender, culture or group and that they all take different paths to
Elliott says the Grey-Bruce chapter has also received grant funding to focus on a local advertising campaign with local police services.
She says they have a great working relationship with law enforcement, and they want to let victims know that police and victim services are there working together to help.
Victim Services Grey-Bruce provides help for those who have been victims of crime — like homicides, sexual assaults, domestic violence and robbery.
But Elliott says they’re also there for those who have been victims of tragic circumstances such as loss of life through car accident or a disaster like a tornado.
She says they offer short-term assistance and also provide referrals to long term services.
