The Family Y Pre-school program at Alexandra school in Owen Sound will disappear at the end of June.
The YMCA CEO Gayle Graham tells Bayshore Broadcasting News there is no room set aside in the new Alexandra school, now under construction, for the program.
She says it is also part of the expansion of the all day J-K and S-K kindergarten program in the area.
Graham says parents will still be able to access the before and after school programs at Alexandra school, probably in the new gym.
However, pre-school children will have to go downtown to the Y or find space in other programs in Owen Sound.
Graham says with the expansion of all day kindergarten, the downtown Y will be able to handle more pre-schoolers this fall.
She says parents have been told about the change and they’ll have to decide where to take their children this September.
There is no word on any job losses related to the cancellation of the pre-school program at Alexandra school.
