Artist’s get ready — Walkerton’s Juried Art Show is coming up and it’s soon time to get your submissions in.
The competition is opened to all aspiring artists in the southern Grey and Bruce Regions.
There are seven art categories — acrylic paintings, water colour paintings, sketching, traditional photography, manipulated photography, three dimensional and a youth category.
All the art pieces must be submitted to the Walkerton Library either today or tomorrow.
There is a five dollar submission fee for each piece — and up to three works will be accepted.
All the art will be judged and there will be cash prizes for the top three winners — $100, $75 and $50.
There will also be a Popular Vote award – chosen by the public.
Library Branch Supervisor Tracy Knapp calls this a golden opportunity for local artists to showcase their talents.
All of the art pieces will be displayed in the basement of the Walkerton Library from April 27th until May 14th.
During that time the public is encouraged to drop by and view the pieces.
Admission is free.
The Walkerton Juried Art Show usually has 130 to 150 pieces of art on display each year.
