The Owen Sound Artists’ Co-op is celebrating four years of funding for its Youth Arts program.
The Co-op has received almost 104 thousand dollars ($103,800) from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to offer creative arts programming to rural youth in Grey Bruce.
Manager Caroline Menzies says the program is called “the Legacy Project” and the funding will allow them to nurture and encourage young people in the arts.
Youth ages 16 to 25 will also get room to show and sell their fine arts and crafts and Menzies says they will receive training in sales, market and customer service.
She notes there will also be one on one opportunities for mentorship with established artists.
Applications are also now available for the annual art and craft competition that is open to high school seniors in Grey Bruce.
Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch supports the program — he likes the idea to be able to engage and inspire our youth through the arts.
