A transport driver is charged with careless driving after a crash on 9th Avenue East at the southern edge of Owen Sound.
City police say the truck crossed over the oncoming lane of traffic, and smashed thru the guardrail on the west side of the roadway just before 6 AM on Wednesday.
The truck rolled down an embankment and struck several trees and came to rest entirely off the roadway.
Owen Sound Police Service, Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Medical Services all attended the scene.
The 46 year old transport driver from Etobicoke was taken to the Owen Sound hospital with minor injuries.
The truck was hauling a load of shrubbery, and it took several hours to extricate the vehicle from its location on the side of the hill.
Traffic was diverted away from the area until approximately 2 PM on Wednesday.
Owen Sound Police say the driver fell asleep behind the wheel.
