The dust has settled and the statistics are in.
This year’s Port Elgin Pumpkinfest played host to 55,000 people who left behind over five-million-dollars in the region.
Pumpkinfest coordinator Lisa Irwin says the attendance is about the same as last year.
Irwin says the weigh-ins and measurements of gourds and produce is always the highlight of the event and she is checking to see if we have a world record asparagus that was entered.
She says the 2-day event in Port Elgin went smoothly but there’s always areas where they can improve.
Irwin says they investigate the possibility of more signage next year to direct visitors and participants to the right spots.
