The Legion in Goderich was packed with concerned voters for the all candidates debate.
The economy, and in particular our struggling manufacturing sector, took main stage at the all candidates debate in Goderich.
Only three Candidates for the Huron-Bruce riding were able to attend…as Conservative Ben Lobb, Liberal Greg McClinchey, and the NDP’s Tony McQuail debated their parties plans.
Ben Lobb says the Conservatives have a realistic and practical plan for the economy.
Lobb says the conservatives have added a 100,000 jobs this year, with a surplus for the first quarter of approximately three billion dollars, so although he realizes that the manufacturing sector is experiencing a down-turn, he says the fundamentals are there.
Liberal Greg McClinchey says it’s frustrating to not yet hear what the Conservatives complete platform is.
McClinchey says at least the other parties have shown voters the respect to propose their plans while the Conservatives have hidden everything they have done.
NDP candidate Tony McQuail says there are other realistic options for our struggling manufacturing sector.
McQuail sees green collar jobs in terms of wind generators, parts and materials as they way to go.
McQuail says the NDP’s are talking about a green car strategy to build a low emmision car with the construction of parts and possibly the cars as well…which he add’s there is now a facility and skilled workers to do that right in Goderich – with the Volvo closure.
Independent Dennis Velenta ,Christian Heritage Candidate Dave Joslin and the Green Parties Glenn Smith were unable to attend.
