Today is the final day for the 5th annual Bruce Peninsula Outdoor Festival.
Hundreds of people have participated in the hikes and presentations that began Friday night.
One of the organizers, Darci Lombard, says it’s a special event that highlights the Bruce Trail and the natural beauty of the Peninsula.
The event is hosted by the Peninsula Bruce Trail Club and Lombard says it has grown substantially over the years.
Lombard says many of the participants are from southern Ontario and the Greater Toronto Area.
The Outdoor Festival includes hikes with group leaders that act as guides.
Lombard says they have two new hikes today starting at Bruce Peninsula National Park and they will also visit the wind turbines in Ferndale.
There were also special seminars and presentations this weekend that focused on astronomy and hiking and paddling on the Peninsula.
Lombard says a group of people who love the outdoors and the area started the festival five years ago and it’s become a popular event.
She hopes the people who participate this weekend will come back on their own.
