There is a special fundraising run at the Hanover and District hospital today.
The hospital is hosting a 10-K fitness run, walk or roll at 1 PM today to help raise money for its new Fit-Trail.
The Fit-Trail is located behind the hospital.
Director of Environmental Services Bill Edmonstone says the money raised today will help develop fitness stations along the new trail.
The trail was born out of the idea earlier this year to plant a thousand new trees behind the hospital to offset CO2 emissions.
Edmonstone says they decided to add fitness stations along the 1.5 kilometre trail.
He says the goal is to have 12 fitness stations along the trail — and each one would be designed for certain levels of activity.
Edmonstone notes each station would have activities for the novice athlete and the advanced athlete.
Edmonstone says the trail will be open to all residents.
But he hopes people visiting loved ones in the hospital will use it.
Edmonstone says the goal is to also use the trail for physiotherapy patients.
