The Ministry of Environment has been called in… after a man was spotted dumping fuel into a parking lot at the corner of 16th street east and 16th avenue in Owen Sound.
City police were called Friday afternoon, when the 39 year old Thornbury man was spotted siphoning fuel with a hose … from the gas tank of his truck… and draining it onto the gravel in the parking lot.
The man says he accidentally put 30 litres of gas into his diesel pickup.
When police arrived he admitted dumping gas on the ground, but didn’t believe there was any environmental damage.
Owen Sound police, fire and emergency services, and Public works all attended the scene.
The MOE continues to investigate whether an environmental cleanup is necessary.
