The annual Thanksgiving Food Drive put on the Bruce Area Solid Waste Recycling is done.
General Manager Vince Cascone says they didn’t get as many donations of food as last year, but are still pleased with the results.
Cascone says this year, they collected more than 74 hundred pounds; that’s down from last year’s total of ten thousand.
Cascone sites tougher times as the most likely reason for the drop and appreciates the generosity of all who gave.
The food has been shipped to the Wiarton Salvation Army, where it will be sorted and sent to the various food banks in the area.
Over the last ten years, more than 26 metric tonnes of food has been collected.
