A new Canadian Tire/Mark’s Work Wearhouse combo is coming to Port Elgin and will be part of the Wal Mart development in the south end of the municipality.
There was talk that Canadian Tire was hedging on building for unknown reasons.
Canadian Tire spokesperson Lisa Gibson tells Bayshore Broadcasting they will be building but it won’t begin until sometime next year, although no specific time lines were disclosed.
Gibson says the next thing on their agenda is getting a site plan approval from Saugeen Shores.
She says the presentation will be made in the next 30-days or so.
Gibson says once that’s done, then the size of the project and the timing of it can be locked in.
She says the Saugeen Shores area is important to the company and the plan is still to bring in a bigger Canadian Tire/Mark’s Work Wearhouse combination in the near future.
Meanwhile work continues on the new Wal Mart building on Highway 21 in south Port Elgin with a planned opening for sometime in the new year.
