Canada’s DO NOT CALL list is now officially up and running.

If if the latest surveys are any indication, almost two thirds of Grey Bruce residents and other Canadians plan to use the service to fend off telemarketers.

Speaking with Bayshore Broadcasting news, he says they represent a majority of Canada’s market research companies.
That is one group that is exempt from the do not call list and feels once people are not being bothered by telemarketers, they will more open to doing telephone surveys.
Wycks says four other groups also exempt from the do not call list.
They include registered charities seeking donations,newspapers looking for subscriptions,political parties and their candidates and companies with whom you have an existing commercial relationship.
Wycks says once you have signed up, many telemarketers can no longer call you starting 31 days after your registration.
You must renew your registration every three years if you want your number to stay on the National DNCL.
For telemarketers who violate the do not call list, they can be fined up to 15 thousand dollars per call.
