Police were called to a home this morning where a dog was running loose and causing concern among children heading to school.
Saugeen Shores Police Chief Dan Rivett says officers were dispatched to the scene and were trying to lure the animal up a laneway with treats when the dog’s owner arrived and took it inside.
There were no problems otherwise.
We did receive a report that officers had their guns drawn as the event played out.
Rivett says at no time did officers have their firearms drawn although one of the supervisors did has a taser gun drawn for the safety of the officers.
The weapon was not used.
Chief Rivett says some workers at the home inadvertently let the dog out but he says nevertheless the owner is responsible for the dog and will be charged according to the dog bylaw.
